How to use Credential Manager in Windows 7

August 14th, 2011

In windows 7 ,you can use Credential Manager to store credentials ,such as user name and password that you use to login website or other computers in the network,so that you can log to websites or computers automatically. Credentials are saved in special folders on your computer named vaults.

To open Credential Manager ,go to Start Control Panel ,then click Credential Manager.

Then in the Credential Manager window ,you can manage your credentials, such as add / remove /edit credentials,or backup / restore vaults.

For example,if you need to input username and password to log on another computer’s share folder  or samba shares, you can add this to Credential Manager so that windows 7 can log you on them without username/ password prompt.
