How to remove the arrows on the desktop shortcut in windows 7

Some friends don’t like the arrows of shotcuts on desktop in Windows 7.In fact we can remove the arrows on the desktop shortcut by several ways,we can use some registry tools to do it.Also we can remove the arrows by modifying the registry entry directly.

1.Open your registry by typing command regedit in Run window

regedit

2.Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile ,remove the IsShortcut string entry because this entry is used to control if show arrows on shortcuts of common Apps and Data files

3.Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile,also remove the IsShortcut entry because this entry is used to control if show arrows  on shortcuts of MS-DOS programs

4.Log off and login ,you will find the arrow is removed

Note:Please backup your registry before you change any entries in your registry editor

    Hi,

    It does not work ! because once the IsShortcut key is modified no longer have access to mouse right click on the taskbar for “Pin this program” option!

    Neo is RIGHT! Do not do this, as it removes your ability to pin shortcuts to the taskbar, and pinning in general; while it worked for vista, do not use for windows 7.
