It does not work ! because once the IsShortcut key is modified no longer have access to mouse right click on the taskbar for “Pin this program” option!

Neo is RIGHT! Do not do this, as it removes your ability to pin shortcuts to the taskbar, and pinning in general; while it worked for vista, do not use for windows 7.
Delete ALL ” IsShortcut ” variables in registry

Decided not to alter registry settings. Seems to be some confusion regarding this. However would still like to remove arrows from desktop shortcuts. May not be worth the stress and anxiety involved.
