In windows 7 you can change the way files and folders function and how items are displayed on your computer by using Folder Options in Control Panel.
Then in the folder Options windows,you can customize your folder options you like,eg:single click or double click
Or to change other folder view settings,eg:if hidden extensions of known file types in the view tag
