How to change or relocate user default data/profile to other partition in Windows 7

Method one:

         Relocate or change the location of an existed user’s data/profile to other partition.

1.Reboot(Do not just logout) from the account whose profile you want to relocate.(We will relocate user win7home as an example)

2.Log on as Administrator.Maybe you need to enable your Administrator account

3.Assume that you want to relocate your profile from C: to E: ,then go to H: and create a new folder Users

4.Then go to C:\Users and copy folder “win7home” to H:\users\

5.Open Registry Editor(Start — type “”regedit” –then press Enter

6.Go to below location of registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

7.Double click “ProfileImagePath” and change the Vaule to “H:\Users\win7home”

8.Log off and log on as win7home,your data/profile is in H:\Users\win7home now.

9.Verify this relocation and remove your old data/profile 

Method Two:

        Change or relocate user default data/profile to other partition by creating symbolic link

Method Tree:

           Change new created user’s profile folder location to other partition.

Refer method one,go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

then change the value of  ProfileDirectory  to “H:\users”
