1.Boot from your windows 7 installation DVD,press any key to continue if you are prompted “Press any key to boot from cd or dvd”

(Note:You may need to setup your bios to boot your PC from DVD)

2.Select your language and keyboard then click Next

3.Click “Repair your computer”

4.The the system will search the installed OS,just click Next

5.Click Command Prompt

6.In the command prompt window,type in below commands ,then click Restart to reboot your computer

7.Remove your windows 7 DVD installation from your DVD-ROM

8.In the login screen,click “Ease of Access” then select Narrator ,then click  OK

9.Then in the command prompt window,use below command to change your login password

net user loginname newpassword

10.Done.Now you can login with your new password.

11.After login,open a command prompt window,go to directory “C:\windows\system32″,then use below commands to restore narrator.exe

del narrator.exe
 
xcopy /h narratorbk.exe narrator.exe

It’s very easy to create a system repair disk on CD/DVD in windows 7,but below steps will show you how to create windows  7 system repair disk on usb disk.

Requirements:

• A usb stick/disk with more than 1G free disk space
• Administrator privilege

1.Inset your usb stick  to you PC and check it’s drive letter.In this example my usb stick’s drive letter is K:

2.Open an Elevated Command Prompt in windows 7

3.In your command prompt window,type in below commands(Press Enter after each command)

cd c:\recovery
 
dir /a:sh
 
cd GUID_DIR  (Normally there is only one directory under c:\recovery)
 
xcopy /h boot.sdi k:\boot\
 
echo F|xcopy /h winre.wim k:\sources\boot.wim
 
cd  c:\windows\boot
 
xcopy /h dvd\pcat\bcd k:\boot\
 
xcopy /h dvd\pcat\en-us\bootfix.bin k:\boot\
 
xcopy /h pcat\bootmgr k:\
 
attrib -r -s -h /S k:\*

Note:Please replace “k:” with your usb’s drive letter

4.Done,now you can setup your bios and boot from this usb stick/disk.

1.Download latest ext2fsd from http://www.ext2fsd.com/

2.Right-click the ext2fsd exe file and click “Run as administrator”

3.Follow the instructions to continue,check the checkbox to enable write permission for ext2 and ext3 partition,see below screenshot

4.Seems this tool is not so friendly ,so pls click Tools–Service Management then click Start to make sure ext2fsd service is enabled ,then click Apply

5.Now right-click the ext3/4 partition you want to access and select  ”Ext2 management” ,then deselect “Mount volume in Readonly mode” and select  ”Automacically mount via ext2mgr” and assign it a drive letter ,then click Apply

6.Done.Now you have the read and write permission to this ubuntu ext3 /ext4 partition

Requirements:

• Windows 7 installation DVD or windows 7 bootable usb disk
• 30~50 minutes

1.Boot from your windows 7 installation DVD or bootable usb disk/stick

(Press any key to continue if you are prompted  ”Press any key to boot from CD or DVD”)

2.Select your Language/Time/Keyboard ,then click Next

3.Click Install Now

4.Check the check-box to accept license term then click Next

5.Click Custom(Advanced)

6.Click Drive Options(Advanced)

(Note:If you already have old OS installed on you disk or have your disk partitioned,then go to step 10)

7.Click New to create a new partition

8.Type in the number MB you want to create for system partition(drive C) ,then click Apply

(Normally ,we should give drive C 20G disk space,if you have 160G larger disk,you can give drive C 50G disk space )

9.Click “Disk 0 unallocated Space…” ,then click New and use the left size for your drive D (Of course,you can repeat this step to create more partitions)

10.Select first partition(exclude system reserved partition) then click Next

(If your disk already have OS installed,pls make sure you select the correct partition or you may lose your data,normally we choose the 1st partition as system partition)

11.Then the system start installing,and this step will take some time
12.The will reboot after above step,please DO NOT press any keys when the system been reboot

13.No actions needed

14.Type a username and computer name

15.Type your windows product key (of course you can skip this step and active your windows 7 after installation)

16.Choose “Use recommend settings” will be ok

17.Review your time zone and date,then click Next

18.Choose your network location,normally you can choose “Home network”,then click Next

19.No action needed

Requirements:

• Two windows machine with internet connections
• A supported online ID linked to your Windows user account

1.Open your windows media player,Click Steam then click Allow Internet access t o home media

2.Click Link an Online ID

3.Then click Add an Online ID provider

4.Click Download to download  Windows Live Essentials

5.Double click the installation file to install Windows live Essentials

6.Click Link an Online ID again

7.Then click  Link online ID

8.Input your Windows Live ID and Password ,then click Sign In

9.Then click OK

10.Click Allow Internet access to home media

11.Done on your home computer

12.On remote machine,repeat step 1~11 ,then you can access your home media(Under Other Libraries)

1.shutdown your PC and connect your new hard drive(For laptop,pls remember to remove your battery)
2.Boot from your Windows 7 Installation DVD    (Press any key if been prompted)
3.Select Language — Keyboard ,then click “Repair your computer”

4.Press SHIFT+F10 to bring command line window up

5.Use command DISKPART to create a new primary partition on your new hard disk.Eg:

diskpart
 
list disk
 
select disk 1
 
create partition primary size=30000
 
list partition
 
select partition 0
 
format fs=ntfs quick
 
active

6.In the diskpart,select your old disk,and assign your old system partition a non-C  drive letter,Eg:

select disk 0
 
list partition
 
select partition 0
 
assign letter=H:

7.Using DISKPART and select the partition your create in step 5 and assign drive letter C: to it

8.Exit from diskpart ,then using DIR command to verify the drive letters have been changed successfully.Eg:

DIR C:
 
DIR H:

9.Copy windows 7 installation from your old disk to new hard disk

robocopy h:\ c:\ /mir /copy:datso /r:2 /w:2 /zb /np /tee /log:rbcp.log

10.Put boot sector to your new hard disk using below command

bootsect  /nt60 C:

(Optional you can use bcdedit command to verify the boot info is correct,if it’s wrong,step 12 will fix it)

11.shutdown,remove your old hard disk then boot again to check if you get your old windows 7 installation copying to new hard drive successfully

12.If you are prompted to repair your computer again,just let your windows 7 installation DVD to repair it automatically.

Note:I have tested the above steps and it worked,pls comment if you get any problems

Updated 23/Apr 2012: If you have a usb disk,it’s easier to do this using system backup and restore,you can refer Move Windows 7 to New Hard Disk

2.Difference between symbolic link and hard link in windows.
For symbolic link ,we can just treat it as a shortcut,if the target been deleted or moved,then we can not access it via the symbolic link,below example
just did the test

Difference between SYMLINKD (/D) and JUNCTION (/J) when using mklink command

1. Both symlinkd and junction are symbolic link,when the target been moved or removed,there will just be fakes.
2. Symlinkd is a newer feature than junction,and it can across file volumes,but junction only can make junction directory in local volume.Eg:we can make symlinkd link to a nfs diretory
3. Although symlinkd is new powerful than junction,but some applications do not support it correctly,so if junction can work,just use junction

1.Right click My Computer then click Manager

2.In the left pane,select Disk Management ,then right click C drive and click Shrink Volume…

3.The type the amount of MB disk space you want to shrink ,then click Shrink

4.Now you will see there is an unallocated free disk space,then you can right click it and select New Simple Volume then follow the instructions to create a D drive

Note:It is recommended to left enough space for C drive.

You can click the Control icon menu(or right click title bar) then click Properties to customize command prompt

In the Options tab,you can customize Cursor size ,Display options ,Command history and Edit options

In the Font Tab you can change font and font size

In the Layout window,you can change window position and window width / height

In the Layout tab ,you can change the color of screen text ,screen background and so on

1.Open an Elevated Command Prompt   (Go to Start — All Programs – Accessories, then right click Command Prompt and click on Run as administrator)

2.Run the below 2 command to launch Device Manager

SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

devmgmt.msc

3.Click View and select Show hidden devices

4.Then find the driver you want to uninstall,right-click it and click Uninstall
